Twelves Stones Out– Twelves Stones In

TC Chiu

I have referred in recent past on this blog to the Call on 07-07-07 and Lou Engle, the watchman who has been called by the Lord for this significant watershed moment in history: preparing a generation for radical shift in an anticipated revolutionary transformation of our society.

Lou has the Heart of the Father, the Fire and Passion of the Holy Spirit, and the Compassion and Sacrificial Love of the Lord Jesus Christ. Please hold him up in prayer for he carries the burden for the Joshua Generation, in facilitating the complete crossing over of a new generation into the Promised Land… the Fullness of Christ.

Ten years ago during a season of renewal, My wife and I attended a series of renewal services that were facilitated by a group of churches in the West Los Angeles area. One Friday evening we were invited by my wife’s sister to attend a service at our former church- New Life Fellowship in Culver City, CA. I had never heard of Lou Engle prior to that night, and wouldn’t have been able to pick him out in a crowd.

During the worship time I was aware of a gentleman in the back of this small church who was seriously into Praise, so much so that it looked to me like he was doing jumping jacks with his arms and legs flailing around! When the praise transitioned into intimate worship- I saw an image and had a prophetic word which I shared with the congregation, hoping at the time that I wouldn’t embarrass myself since I needed maturing in this spiritual process, being a novice. When the guest speaker was introduced by then pastor Terry Samples, he turned out to be the athletic enthusiastic worshiper named Lou Engle.

Lou brought a stirring message concerning missionary work behind the former Iron Curtain, having just flown back from Eastern Europe. I did not have the chance to meet him personally although I wanted to; I needed to meet my wife elsewhere who wasn’t able to attend. Although the prophecy spoken in the meeting started with “twelve stones in, twelves stone out…” the correct sequence in the Bible is the reverse. I now sense in my spirit that this prophetic word is even more specifically for Lou Engle himself. The Lord has ‘refreshed’ this word which may serve to confirm what Lou apparently already knows: He has a pivotal calling and weighty mantle for these Last Days… let us pray and hold his arms up during the many days of spiritual warfare that lay ahead. Thankfully God is in all the details…

Quoting from the Holy Bible Recovery Version :

Joshua 3:5-4:11… And Joshua said to the people, Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow Jehovah will do wondrous things in your midst. Then Joshua spoke to the priests, saying, Take up the Ark of the Covenant, and cross over before the people. And they took up the Ark of the Covenant and went before the people. And Jehovah said to Joshua, On this day I will begin to magnify you in the sight of all Israel, that they may know as I was with Moses, I will be with you. And you shall command the priests who carry the Ark of the Covenant, saying, When you come to the edge of the waters of the Jordan, you shall stand still in the Jordan.

Then Joshua said to the children of Israel, Come here and hear the words of Jehovah your God. And Joshua said, By this you will know that the living God is in your midst, and that He will most certainly dispossess before you the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Hivites and the Perizzites and the Girgashites and the Amorites and the Jebusites. The Ark of the Covenant of the Lord of all the earth is now crossing over before you into the Jordan.

Therefore now take twelve men for yourselves out of the tribes of Israel, one man for each tribe. And when the soles of the feet of the priests who carry the Ark of Jehovah, the Lord of all the earth, come to rest in the waters of the Jordan; the waters of the Jordan, the waters that flow from upstream, will be cut off, and they will stand in a heap. And it so happened that when the people set out from their tents to cross over the Jordan, the priests who carried the Ark of the Covenant went before the people. And when those who carried the Ark came to the Jordan, and the feet of the priests who carried the Ark dipped into the edge of the water (now the Jordan overflowed all its banks throughout all the days of the harvest), The water that flowed down from upstream stood and rose up in a heap a great distance away, at Adam, the city that is beside Zarethan; and those that flowed down toward the sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea, were completely cut off. And the people crossed over from opposite Jericho.

And the priests who carried the Ark of the Covenant of Jehovah stood firmly on dry ground in the middle of the Jordan while all Israel was crossing over on dry ground, until all the nation had completely crossed over the Jordan.

Chapter 4… And when all the nation had completely crossed over the Jordan, Jehovah spoke to Joshua, saying, Take for yourselves twelve men from among the people, one man for each tribe; And command them, saying, Take up for yourselves from here out of the middle of the Jordan, from the place where the priests’ feet stood firm, twelve stones; and bring them over with you, and lay them down in the place where you lodge tonight. So Joshua called the twelve men whom he had appointed from among the children of Israel, one man for each tribe, And Joshua said to them, Pass before the Ark of Jehovah your God into the middle of the Jordan, and every one of you lift up one stone upon his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel. That this may be a sign among you, When your children ask in time to come, saying, What do these stones mean to you?

You shall tell them that the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the Ark of the Covenant of Jehovah; when it crossed over the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. Thus these stones will be a memorial to the children of Israel forever. And the children of Israel did as Joshua commanded and took up twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan, as Jehovah told Joshua to do, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel. And they brought them over with them to the place where they were to lodge, and they laid them down there.

Then Joshua erected twelve stones in the middle of the Jordan, in the place where the feet of the priests who carried the Ark of the Covenant had stood; and they are there to this day. And the priests who carried the Ark stood in the middle of the Jordan until everything was completed that Jehovah had commanded Joshia to speak to the people, according to all that Moses had commanded Joshua. And the people hurried and crossed over. And when all the people had completely crossed over, the Ark of Jehovah with the priests crossed over before the people.

Forty years earlier the children of Israel under Moses had missed the opportunity to receive the land of Promise according to God’s will. They had tested the Lord ten times in a very short period of time, and willfully rebelled against the positive reports of both Caleb and Joshua who told them that they were well able to take the land since Jehovah was with them. Now the much older men who had mentored the younger generation (20 years of age and under- and all those born during the ensuing 40 years) had unanimous agreement in obedience to God, and therefore were ready to possess their inheritance. They had learned warfare well during those four decades, and were formidable foes in the eyes of their enemies (Joshua 2:24).

Now a direct quote from the footnotes of the lsm Recovery Bible:

Israel’s crossing the river Jordan typifies not the believers’ physical death but the believers’ experience of the death of Christ in which their old man is terminated and buried (Rom.6:3-6; Gal. 2:20). Israel’s entering into the good land after crossing the Jordan typifies not the believers’ going to heaven after they die but the believers’ experience of taking over the heavenlies, where Satan and his powers of darkness are. Israel’s crossing the Jordan and entering the good land are related to Israel’s possessing and enjoying the good land, which typifies the believers’ practical experience of the riches of the blessings in Christ as revealed in the book of Ephesians.

The twelve stones taken from the Jordan signify the twelve tribes of the new Israel. The stones’ being raised up from the waters of the Jordan signifies resurrection from death. These twelve stones were a sign, showing the the “resurrected” new Israel would be a testimony of the crossing of the death water. This typifies the believers’ experiencing with Christ the resurrection from death (Romans 6:3-4 ).

[In verse 9] These were another twelve stones (cf.v.3), signifying the twelve tribes of Israel in their old life and in their old nature. Joshua erected these twelve stones in the middle of the Jordan where the Ark was, signifying that the Lord wanted Israel in their old nature to remain under the death water of the Jordan. This typifies that the old man of the believers should remain in the death of Christ (Rom. 6:6; Gal. 2:20; Phil. 3:10). The two sets of twelve stones signify that our old man has been buried and our resurrected new man is living and working with the Triune God as one. This corresponds with the revelation in Ephesians 2:1, 4-6, 15, 10.

The Call- Nashville on 07-07-07 as stated is 40 days of fasting and intercession seeking the Lord’s mercy and healing of our nation that ‘divorced’ God 40 years ago. America has been 40 years in the wilderness, and the hope we place in the younger generations (my children, grandchildren, …) is well-founded, for clearly the Lord is imparting to them a Larger Heart with radical humility and uncompromising outspokenness about what is clearly wrong with our society, and God’s remedy revealed in His Holy Word.

Brother Lou- you must own God’s reality that you are Joshua, and that the Books of Joshua and Ephesians constitute the strategic battle plans for this ongoing campaign– to return our nation to its righteous foundations. As it says so eloquently in Isaiah 58:6-12 in verse 12… And those who are of you will rebuild the ancient ruins; You will raise up the foundations of generation upon generation; And you will be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of the paths in which to dwell.

Brother Lou: You and your wonderful ministry will always have my prayers united with yours… I love you, man of God.
