“…Many Infallible Proofs…”

Many Infallible Proofs

Acts 1: 1-3… The former account I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach [the Gospel according to Luke], until the day in which He was taken up, after He through the Holy Spirit, had given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen, to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering [death and resurrection] by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the Kingdom of GOD.

I am beginning with this post a lengthy series of essays on the Bible.  It is my call at this time in my life to gather substantial evidence from a wide variety of sources that effectively and systematically answer the hard questions with respect to the reliability of the Bible, both Old and New Testaments.  I have already posted some time ago a comprehensive thesis concerning the historical person known as Jesus of Nazareth (see link below).

Future posts will encompass historical, archeological, scientific, and prophetic documentation that will lay a foundation and build a solid framework for anyone who is sincerely inquiring about the deepest questions of this mortal life-  Is there a GOD?  How and where has He revealed Himself?  Why is there so much suffering in this world?  Do I have a destiny in this one short life… a significant something to fulfill? And many other questions that have solid answers found in the books from Genesis to Revelation compiled in the Holy Bible.

For most of my adolescence and young adult years I was a hardcore atheist.  I had rejected anything to do with GOD, the Bible, a bloody cross, heaven and hell, sin… all that.  I would get in anybody’s face (especially at UCLA in the early 70’s where Campus Crusade for Christ was so entrenched) if they dared to try to ‘share the gospel’ with me.  In my arrogance I though Christians were stupid wimps who needed to get in serious touch with reality. I would give them really hard questions from science, evolution, history, and hit them hard with how they could reconcile a so-called loving GOD that would command the Hebrews to raid a city, fortress, people group etc. and kill everything that draws breath.  Of course I never got an acceptable answer- because frankly they- the ones I asked- didn’t have it to give.

Toward the end of my wayward college career with serious drug addiction taking its toll, I was angered and offended when one of our clan of guys and girls had the nerve to show up at one of the houses that we would congregate at to do drugs, and started preaching at us. This guy Tom had been one of the most addicted people in our flower power group, and literally vanished for a few months.  When he came back he looked like Tarzan.  He was in great physical shape, was totally clean and sober- and had piercing blue eyes that looked deep into you when he spoke.  I got really upset, but since this was a big house I went to another part of it where others were- and expected him to leave.  Quite some time later I went back to the den only to find all my buddies sitting cross-legged on the floor with Tom and a blond-guy with a long beard and very long hair (my image of Jeremiah) preaching up a storm!

I walked over to Tom and said “Hey man, enough already!  We’re into the New Age Movement, not some dead guy hanging on a cross for getting busted by the Romans.  Why don’t you just smoke a joint and shut up, or leave.”  ‘Tarzan’ didn’t seem intimidated- but instead looked at me with such concern and genuine warmth that he surprised me. He opened his big Bible and said, “Let me just show you some things predicted in the Bible that will happen soon.”

Now he had my interest… my curiosity got the better of me.  In less than five minutes they were gone… but he had shared several verses of Scripture in different parts of the Bible that within the next five years I would see on newspaper headlines.  One would be coincidence, two disconcerting, but three shook me to the core.  It started a journey that led me to try to refute the Bible… but instead it proved itself under very extended scrutiny. After marriage my wife Robyn and I started the long process of deep study that confirmed the inerrancy of the entire Bible.

Anyone who sincerely focuses on just the Prophetic portions of Scripture- both the many that have been historically fulfilled- and the many that are being fulfilled in our present and imminent future, can only come to one conclusion- this is truly the Word of God.  One clear example is the very exact description of the world empires that followed the Babylonian captivity that Daniel recorded in his book.  It is clearly historically authenticated, so that anyone who would presume to say that he did not write it- would be shamed for lack of doing their homework, based upon all the confirming information that is readily available.

The other more comprehensive set of prophecies that I really appreciate are the 300 detailed reference to the coming Messiah… each and every one fulfilled to the letter in the life of Jesus of Nazareth.  My blog-post of several years ago:   The Messiah According to the Scriptures.

And even more exciting to me now, is the discovery through the ministry of Dr. Chuck Missler of the ‘Heptadic’ structure of the Bible.  This means that the number 7 (and multiples thereof) are prominent throughout vast portions of text.

This is a self-authenticating system that GOD embedded in the Bible. You see the original autographs (Hebrew/Greek OT and Greek NT) are very exact not allowing for manuscript error… the Hebrew and Greek languages both have numerical values for each letter of their respective alphabets.  Now take the two genealogies of Christ’s lineage in the Bible:  Matthew 1:1-17 and Luke 3:23-38.  Hidden in the text one can mathematically determine that:

  • The number of words are divisible by 7 (without remainder).
  • The number of letters total are divisible by 7 exactly.
  • The number of vowels are divisible by 7 exactly.
  • The number of consonants divisible by 7 exactly.
  • The number of words that begin with a vowel are divisible by 7.
  • Number of words that begin with a consonant are divisible by 7.
  • The number of words that occur only once are divisible by 7.
  • The number of words that occur more than once are divisible by 7.
  • The number of names are divisible by 7 exactly.

Based on logic and statistical probability for just one of these to occur randomly, it would be a 1 in 7 shot of someone being able to contrive it.  Every additional one (and there are many more like these throughout the Bible, especially in the Book of Revelation) would be a multiple of 7, i.e. 2= 7×7; 3= 7x7x7 and so on.  Therefore these 9 alone (of many more) that are present in the two genealogies would yield a 1 in 40,353,607 chance of happening by accident!!!

Ivan Panin was a Russian immigrant who graduated from Harvard with a degree  in mathematics and was also a linguist fluent in 14 languages.  He discovered the hidden numerical patterns throughout the OT/NT, became a devout Christian (from atheism), and spent 50 years documenting his encyclopedic research.  When he presented it to the Nobel Foundation in the 1930’s, they were dumb-founded and agreed that the the only rational conclusion required divine authorship!  Nothing else could possibly explain this irrefutable reality.

Another profound WOW!

Take the last ten names in the genealogy of Luke (v.36-38) beginning with Adam (going backwards from v38 to v36) chronologically to Noah- knowing that Hebrew names have specific meanings, this is what you get:

  1. Adam= Man
  2. Seth= Appointed
  3. Enosh= Mortal
  4. Cainan= Sorrow
  5. Mahalalel= (two roots) The Blessed Praised One of GOD
  6. Jared= Shall Come Down
  7. Enoch= Teaching
  8. Methuselah= His Death Shall Bring
  9. Lamech= The Despairing
  10. Noah= Comfort and Rest

Man [is] appointed mortal sorrow.  The Blessed Praised One of GOD shall come down- teaching [that] His Death shall bring the despairing comfort and rest.

One Last big WOW!

In Genesis 38 is the sordid story of Judah and Tamar, both of whom are in the lineage of the Lord Jesus Christ.  What has been discovered via Bible Code computer analysis is that in this very unusual chapter- in the original Hebrew- in 49 letter intervals (7×7)- you find the sequential letters of each of these names- Boaz, Ruth, Obed, Jesse, and David… in the exact order of their existence!!! This is very easy to authenticate now, and impossible for anyone to contrive! See

What a sincere truth seeker needs to understand is that the Bible is a seamless whole.  GOD has embedded within the text of all sixty six books an encoded verification system that along with all the other evidence which I will detail in future posts will firmly establish the inerrancy and reliability of the Holy Bible.

It is advisable to study the elementary principles of Christ- which Paul directs to believers who haven’t done their homework.  They can be found in:

Hebrews 5:11 thru 6:3… Concerning Him we have much to say, and it is hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone to teach you the elementary principles of the oracles of GOD, and you have come to need milk and not solid food.

For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.  But solid food is for the mature, that is, those who because of practice have their senses trained to discern between good and evil.

C6… Therefor leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of  Christ, let us go on to perfection- not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward GOD, of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of the resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.

And this we will do if GOD permits.

Each of these principles constitute a chapter in my book “Thy Kingdom Come- Here and Now!”

GOD is patiently waiting for a broken and contrite spirit in all of us.

Psalm 51:16,17… For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it; You do not delight in burnt offerings.  The sacrifices of GOD are a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart– these, O GOD, You will not despise.

Life is too short… don’t keep HIM waiting…
